lyrics

Sitting shotgun going east out of Seattle
I managed to catch a glimpse of Interstate 90
Swore that I could see my house from here
Over the mountains, over the plains
Across the Appalachians, over the Great Lakes
Where will I be in another year
Am I doing well if this is my only fear?

Got off the highway when we got hungry
I had no idea where we were
So I grabbed some Subway and thought to myself
My life's passing me by in a blur
With the world in my hand, and my seat in the van
We would travel the land as a family band
And somehow they knew that this was all part of their "god's plan"

Religion is ridiculous, at least I've always thought so
It's been the cause of almost every war
But these people were kind, and they thought with their minds
And their hearts, not with Bibles you buy in a store
If you live for your "god" then live by his teachings
Live for the love and help the out-reaching
If you don't confuse oppression with being an oppressor
If life is your classroom and the world's your professor
Maybe there's some hope for this world yet

I've learned a lot in my travels and I hope that I'll always stand for
Kindness, compassion, knowledge, and a thirst for more
